The Admissions Office requires that school records from the previous three years be turned in with the application form. Copies of educational-psychological testing and/or individual educational plans, if they exist, must also be turned in. Admission is based on previous school records. In addition, students may be asked for an interview.
An English test is administered to students who are not native English speakers in Grades 9-12 to determine admission and/or placement. Students may be admitted up to and including Grade 8 with no prior knowledge of English, at the school's discretion and contingent on space in the program although CAISL may require an English test for those entering Grade 8. For students who are not native speakers of English and who wish to be admitted to CAISL´s high school, please refer to our guidelines here.
Math tests are given for placement purposes to students entering Grades 9-12.
If your child is going into Middle School (Grades 6, 7, and 8) or High School (Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12), he or she might need to take a Portuguese as a Foreign Language Placement Test before the start of school in September. The purpose of the test is to determine the most appropriate level of Portuguese as a Foreign Language for your child. These tests are available on-line; to determine if your child needs to take this test, please follow the link in the Navigation sidebar on the left of the screen.
CAISL may require parents to submit the results of other academic tests or to update the educational-psychological test prior to admission if there a need for these records. This additional testing will be at parent’s expense.
