It is the policy of the Frank C. Carlucci American International School of Lisbon to seek the highest status of accreditation for the School through joint accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEAS&C) and the Council of International Schools (CIS), cooperating in their evaluation and maintaining accreditation standards.
The School will carry out periodic self-study and self-evaluation programs, and will request accreditation visits from visiting teams as necessary to maintain our status as an accredited school.
CAISL received representatives from NEASC and CIS from March 14 - 16, 2017, as part of the ten-year Accreditation cycle. This is called a "5-Year Visit" as it is half-way between the "full 10-year visit" which was in March 2012 and the next visit scheduled for March 2022.
The 2-person Visiting Team spent three days talking to staff and students and met with the newly-formed Parent Support Group. The Team will provide us with a written report of their findings but, in advance of that, they assured us that their findings are most positive and wrote in a follow-up email that Your students are so fortunate to attend CAISL and they take much pride in their school.
CAISL also operates under a permanent license from the Portuguese Ministry of Education to offer an American curriculum academic program. This allows transfers to and from the Portuguese system.
CAISL is an authorized IB World School and offers the IB Diploma Program for Grades 11 and 12.
CAISL is the only school in Portugal with support from the Department of State of the USA.
