CAISL's Spring concert took place on May 23rd, including orchestra and choir pieces performed by students from Grade 5 to 12.
The evening started in the snack-bar, with Grade 5 orchestra welcoming parents and showing how much they'd progressed after their first year playing a string instrument. The show went on, now in the Theater with High School Choir and the jazz rhythm of Banana Split for my Baby.
5th Grade Choir followed, with a performance inspired by the book Kensuke's Kingdom, by Michael Morpurgo. 5th graders had a very special guest to help them work on a musical interpretation of the story, Ms. Karen Batsel, the composer of the musical herself. Middle and High School Choirs continued the cheerful signing with several complex melodies, and deserved a strong round of applause from the audience.
Orchestra took the stage right after, with Middle and High schoolers interpreting a variety of themes, from classical music to more modern movie tracks. There was still time for another musical treat, when senior students from the Tri-M Music Honor Society joined the orchestra for a farewell song on CAISL's stage.
To wrap up this wonderful concert, both Middle and High School Choir and Orchestra performed one last piece together, a perfect ending to this Spring Concert.
Congratulations to all student performers and their teachers.
