This year CAISL brought 16 students, January 25-February 1, to The Hague International Model United Nations conference for five days of debate on over one hundred specific global issues. Our group was proudly led by grade 10 student Ambassador Isabella W. and Kaitlyn J. earned a spot on the prestigious International Court of Justice where she acted as a judge adjudicating three different state disputes. We represented Afghanistan and were honored to be hosted by the Afghan Ambassador to the Hague for a briefing upon our arrival in The Hague on Monday.
Of particular note this year CAISL was honored to have had senior Davina S. selected to act as Secretary General of the entire conference which attracts some 3, 200 students from over 200 schools worldwide. Davina acted as SG of our own Iberian Model United Nations conference this past November and has developed outstanding leadership and organizational skills. These were apparent in her oversight of THIMUN – a huge responsibility brilliantly executed!
Prior to the conference our group immersed itself in the art and history of Amsterdam, visiting the Anne Frank House, the Dutch Resistance Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and taking a canal boat tour. Despite cold, rainy weather a great time was had by all.
