Environmental Movements and Renewable Energies
Posted 10/29/2018 02:00PM

On the 23rd and 25th of October, our juniors and seniors attending Environmental Systems and Societies and Environmental Science had the opportunity to meet António Eloy for a Q&A session about environmental movements and his work as an environmental activist and supporter of renewable energies.

António Eloy has an extensive experience as a High School teacher and college professor at Universidade Lusófona. He is specialized in the fields of Ecology, Geography and Economy and also worked as a consultant for educational programs related with EXPO'98 – a exhibition that took place in Portugal with the participation of several countries, whose goal was to raise awareness about the importance of oceans.

Currently, António Eloy is working as a consultant for industries that work with renewable energies, writes books for children and adolescents regarding the importance of these type of energies and about his most recent fight against the nuclear power plant of Almaraz. Some of his titles were kindly donated to our library.

With his rich and diversified background, António Eloy was able to 'paint a portrait' of how important it is to raise awareness and take a stand regarding the challenges that our planet faces and also enforced the notion of empathy and compassion, traits that he highlighted as important to develop in order to achieve a better society and a 'greener' planet.

António was fascinated with our students curiosity, engagement and concern about the environment and would love to return for more sessions with our students.
