On October 25, a group of two teachers and 14 students (juniors and seniors), joined efforts with Habitat for Humanity Braga and, during three days, the group contributed to the construction of housing for a family in Pedregais. Due to the limited construction area, volunteers were asked to remove debris to a truck to be collected by the Junta de Freguesia. Shovels dug furiously through the huge amount of debris, and buckets passed from hand to hand creating an efficient assembly line. In two days, ten volunteers filled four trucks, which was quite impressive. The other four students were responsible for carrying rocks and making cement to build a flight of stairs. On the last day the group split into smaller groups to oversee other construction tasks such as painting, plastering cement on walls and opening holes on floors for pluming pipes.
Despite the physical exhaustion it was an amazing volunteering experience.
