CAISL Elementary students gathered in the theater on Friday, September 14th, for the recognition of all the students, teachers and parents who participated in the 2018 CAISL Reading World Cup summer event.
The summer reading programs have been developed CAISL Library Media Specialist, Ms. Jenkins, and by CAISL teacher, Ms. Adams over the past seven years. These programs have been so popular at CAISL that Ms. Jenkins and Ms. Adams decided to present them at the ECIS Librarians conference in India last February. Several librarians took the programs back to their schools meaning that several hundred students, at schools from Brazil to Russia, also helped their favorite team win the world cup with a summer full of reading.
Melissa Cavender, librarian at the Anglo-American School of St. Petersburg, located in Russia where the real world cup was taking place, was so pleased about summer reading that she mailed us some stickers from the Russia Soccer World Cup. Each certificate handed out here at CAISL included a small sticker all the way from Russia.
Congratulations to this year's 58 bronze, 32 silver and 67 gold medals winners. A vote of special thanks goes to all the parents who encouraged, supported and facilitated all the fun reading that happens all summer! Thanks also to Ms. Jenkins, Ms. Adams and the Library team for their hard work in organizing this event.
