This year's Junior Model United Nations was a grand success. We had over 250 students participating from several international schools.
On the evening of April 10th, Grades 1 through 4 students presented one of the most awaited concerts of the year: the Spring Show.
Every year the National Honor Society Induction Dinner is one of the most enjoyable events at CAISL.
On March 23rd, many families showed up at CAISL with their boots on, ready for the Western Party sponsored by the Parents Support Group. And what a party it was!
The "CAISL Techno Wolves" team was made of ten students from the Middle School Exploratory Robotics class, who also took the "Robotics" after-school club, and took on the challenge to program and build robots to perform tasks that included speed drag, tug-of-wars and power trailer pull.
On March 19th, CAISL hosted the Jazz Night, a musical event bringing several internationals schools together.
One of the highlights of the school year, the IB Year 2 / Advanced Art Exhibition and Tri-M Induction Ceremony took place on the evening of March 12th.
The Mad Hatter Tea Party took place on March 8th and brought together Middle and High School Orchestra students in their best and most exotic hats.
Middle School Musical Theater students flew to new heights with their performance of Peter Pan Jr., on February 22nd and 23rd.
Middle School semester awards were given to recognize outstanding achievement or effort in specific disciplines, and general awards were given for outstanding performance in different categories.
On February 16th, a perfect day to be at the Algarve, our Cross Country team who represented us in the best possible way.
In an interactive talk with High School students, Dr. Dedyukhina explained how the use of technological devices can change our attention span and memory skills.
Steven Spielberg's "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" landed on CAISL on the evening of February 8th, 2019, and he had a theater full of children anxiously waiting for him to arrive – it was another movie night organized by the Parent Support Group.
As the Volleyball season came to an end, Divisions 5, 4 and 3 each disputed a local tournament at CAISL, on January 29th, 30th and February 4th.
This year CAISL brought 16 students, January 25-February 1, to The Hague International Model United Nations conference for five days of debate on over one hundred specific global issues.
By 2025, it is realistic to expect a mission to colonize Mars being a reality. A host of agencies are already pursuing this venture and are looking for the qualities potential pioneers would need. Our Middle School used this information to inspire our interdisciplinary unit this year.
With the holidays just around the corner, our Grades 1 through 4 students invited friends and family to join them for the yearly Winter Showcase this Monday, December 17th.
On December 13th evening CAISL hosted one of the highlights of the year, the Winter Concert.
We were very proud of our boys' basketball and girls' soccer teams for their spirited participation in the Fall Tournament hosted at CAISL on the weekend of December 1st.
The XXIV Iberian Model United Nations took place between November 8 and 10, bringing together more than 400 student delegates to debate current international issues.
The morning of Halloween day started with excitement all over elementary school, with students looking forward to an afternoon of costume parading and candy filled parties.
On Monday, 22nd October, and through Tuesday 30th October, we celebrated CAISL Colors. This was a whole school initiative, designed to raise student awareness of our Hidden Curriculum. Students were invited to come to school each day wearing at least one item of clothing in the following colors, each of which represents a different behavioral expectation.
On October 25, a group of two teachers and 14 students (juniors and seniors), joined efforts with Habitat for Humanity Braga and, during three days, the group contributed to the construction of housing for a family in Pedregais.
On the 23rd and 25th of October, our juniors and seniors attending Environmental Systems and Societies and Environmental Science had the opportunity to meet António Eloy for a Q&A session about environmental movements and his work as an environmental activist and supporter of renewable energies.
On October 19th, parents of our youngest students gathered in the Art Gallery for a presentation bout how young children learn to read. They heard about the various skills involved in learning to read, and how the curriculum develops student proficiency in combining these skills for our children to become successful readers.
On the weekend of October 12th through 14th, CAISL hosted the Iberian Varsity Volleyball tournament, with local and international teams participating.
The Parent Support Group (PSG) hosted another successful movie night on October 19th, this time to show the movie 'Star Wars IV – A New Hope'.
On October 20th, CAISL had the opportunity to meet some special babies and toddlers alongside their favorite adults for storytime!
On Wednesday, September 26, a group of 12 students from the High School Community Service including juniors and seniors, took part in one more visit to Lar das Fisgas, CAISL´s long-term Community Service partner.
The traditional Parent Support Group (PSG) Welcome Back Picnic took place last Saturday, September 22nd, and brought together a crowd of new and returning families for an afternoon of fun games, delicious grilled burgers and hot-dogs, and a chance to mingle with old and new friends.

CAISL is a student-centered educational community in which we challenge ourselves and each other to do our best and to make positive contributions to our diverse and ever-changing world.
