Learning Support Program (LSP)

To promote the academic, social, emotional and physical development of all its students, CAISL provides a range of Learning Support services.

Students admitted to CAISL must be able to function within the regular classroom setting and be able to work towards successful completion of CAISL academic requirements.

CAISL provides Learning Support services for students who have been identified with mild learning difficulties to help them work towards these requirements. CAISL does not have the facilities or faculty required to educate children with severe learning or behavioral problems.

View the information provided below to learn more about our Learning Support Program.

What is the Learning Support Program?

The Learning Support Program is designed to help students with mild learning difficulties work towards successful completion of CAISL academic requirements.

*Small Group Instruction

*Regular Monitoring of Progress

*Formal Accommodations

*Executive Functioning Skills

*Literacy Skills

*Mathematics Skills

 *Reaching Grade Level Academic Expectations

Why would my child need Learning Support?

Learning Support tailors its services to the needs of the student, as determined by both external and in-house testing, teacher assessment, and, where necessary, the Individual Educational Plan.  Accommodations may be available to help students gain equal access to the curriculum.

What is the Parent's role in the Learning Support Program?

CAISL recognizes the vital input parents provide about their child's life outside of school and his/her interests, enthusiasms, and approach to learning.

Parents can help the CAISL faculty to support the child better by providing on-going information about the child and what the Parent is seeing at home.  Information on the items shown below help us support your child:

Likes, dislikes, personality

Interests, talents, abilities

Family relationships and dynamics (including extended family and pets)

Peer relationships and dynamics

Family routines and schedules

Physical and emotional history

Parents also should speak with the child's teacher(s) about goals that have been set and collaborate with your the teacher(s) regarding progress and propose changes in goals, strategies and/or resources or support where they see a need.

Parents whose children need an IEP will also participate in the Annual Review Meeting.

What formal documentation is involved?

CAISL writes an Individual Education Plan (IEP) when the Tracking Team (the CAISL personnel who follow the child's progress closely) deems it is beneficial to the child.   The IEP sets the progress goals for the child for the year and outlines the manner and timeline in which those goals will be met.  The IEP is written annually and reviewed with Parents.

Are there additional fees associated with the Learning Support Program?

Mild levels of learning support are included in the tuition fees at CAISL.

Some additional support services, such as Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy, are not provided at CAISL although CAISL will assist the family in finding such support in the community.
