TRI-M® MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY
Perform, Lead and Serve.
Tri-M® is a program of NAfME (National Association for Music Education) designed to recognize Secondary students for their academic and musical achievements and to provide them with leadership and service opportunities.
At CAISL, the Tri-M® chapter started in the school year of 2014-2015 and, since then, has developed significantly. At this moment, there are 22 student members and projects include fundraising and awareness about the work of local charity institutions such as Ajuda de Berço, Centro de Oncologia Pediátrica, Associação Portuguesa de Luta contra o Cancro, hosting two open microphone sessions monthly to provide a safe performing space for all students, providing active help during the school fine art’s events, and performing outside the school for social service institutions.
Every year new members are inducted in a meaningful ceremony and become certified for their support to the program. CAISL’s chapter is aimed at High School (Grades 9 through 12) only.
“A Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter offers students the chance to perform, places them in leadership positions, and gives them the opportunity to serve the community. It highlights the school’s music program, helps students grow in innumerable ways, and brightens their college applications.” (Tri-M® Website)
“Through performance and community service, they’ll develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and a host of other leadership skills sure to serve them well in school and beyond.” (Tri-M® Website)
