Lunch and Bus

Cafeteria

CAISL’s catering partner, Thomas Franks, prepares fresh meals daily in our on-campus kitchen. All students have access to a hot lunch each day, including freshly made soup and a salad bar. Lunch menus offer three daily options—a main dish, an international dish, and a vegetarian option—with the main dish alternating between meat and fish—ensuring variety, balance, and choice for every student.

School lunch is included in the Early Childhood and Kindergarten fees. From Grade 1, school lunch is optional and adds an extra fee. Please refer to the Fee Schedule to see the cost for these services.

Snack-Bar and Elementary Snacks

The Snack Bar is open during the school day and offers a selection of light meals and refreshments, including sandwiches, croissants, quiches, soups, as well as coffee, juice, and water. It is available to Secondary students, staff, and parents.

For students from EC3 through Grade 5, CAISL provides a simple daily snack, typically consisting of milk or yogurt and fruit. Students may also bring a snack from home.

Please note that Early Childhood and Elementary students do not have access to the Snack Bar service.

Transportation

Photo of Bus Services

CAISL offers an extensive bus service serving the most populated areas of Cascais and Lisbon, with routes designed around major metro and train corridors. The fleet includes both large 50-seat buses for areas with higher student concentration and smaller 8- and 14-seat vans for students living in more dispersed locations.

Whenever possible, students are picked up directly at their homes. While the service covers many areas, it does not reach all locations, and families are encouraged to confirm availability with the Accounts Office. Please note that the bus service carries an additional fee.

Although the distance from Lisbon to CAISL may seem long, buses travel against peak traffic flow—toward the school in the morning and back toward Lisbon in the afternoon—helping ensure a smoother journey. All buses are equipped with individual seat belts and are supervised by adult monitors to ensure student safety and comfort.

Please refer to the family guide for more details on the bus and food service at CAISL.
