On June 27, CAISL hosted the Gonçalo Ferraz Soccer Cup, bringing together students, alumni, parents, and faculty members for a memorable day of soccer, teamwork, and community spirit. Participants celebrated friendship, sportsmanship, and the connections that make CAISL a special place. The event also honored Gonçalo Ferraz, a former CAISL student, while highlighting the strong bonds that unite generations of our school community.

As the school year came to a close, our EC3 students embraced outdoor play in the mud kitchen, using natural materials to create imaginative meals. Through creative, hands-on exploration, they strengthened collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills while enjoying the fresh air and celebrating the end of a wonderful year.

CAISL’s Spring Concert brought together our Middle School Choir, High School Choir, Varsity Choir, Intermediate Orchestra, and Advanced Orchestra for a memorable evening of music and celebration. As part of CAISL’s 70th anniversary, students performed selections representing the decades since the school’s founding, creating a meaningful tribute to our history, community, and vibrant performing arts program.

The Class of 2016 celebrated their 10-year reunion with around 20 alumni, faculty, and staff. The event included a campus tour, starting at the Main Library and ending with a reception at the Art Gallery featuring archival photos. It was a meaningful gathering that highlighted lasting connections and shared memories from their school years.

On June 12th, Preschool families joined our Spring Informances, where students showcased their learning in Music and Art through interactive activities, songs, and movement. Families also enjoyed the school's final art exhibition of the year, featuring Kindergarten sunflower paintings inspired by Vincent van Gogh and the EC students' creative I Am a Monster artworks.

On June 11, Grade 9 students showcased their Unit 6 Modeling projects in a 3D gallery exhibition. By transforming real-world objects into mathematical models, they applied concepts such as surface area, volume, density, and geometric probability. The event welcomed teachers, parents, and students to celebrate creativity, learning, and mathematical thinking in action.

Our Grade 5 students recently explored the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), researching global issues such as health and well-being, gender equality, responsible consumption, and climate action. They applied their learning by writing evidence-based argument essays and presenting their ideas through “Take a Stand Talks,” demonstrating strong research, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking skills.

CAISL Grade 8 students presented their Human Impact Projects at a symposium exploring the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through interdisciplinary research, they shared their findings, solutions, and mathematical analysis, while engaging the community and contributing their voices to global sustainability efforts.

As part of the Plastic Pirates – Go Europe initiative, CAISL's Ecolution Club participated in an outdoor learning experience at Ribeira de Colares, where students conducted environmental field research and analyzed water quality. By contributing their findings to a Europe-wide database, they gained valuable hands-on scientific experience while supporting efforts to map pollution across the continent.

Last Saturday, we celebrated the graduation of 60 students from the Class of 2026. The emotional ceremony brought together students, families, and staff to mark this important milestone. A highlight of the event was the personal tributes shared by teachers chosen by each graduate, making the occasion especially meaningful. While we are excited to see what lies ahead for our graduates, they are already greatly missed by our school community.

Last Friday, CAISL staff and students enjoyed an inspiring evening with acclaimed author and war correspondent Cristina Lamb, co-author of I Am Malala. Hosted by Indie, Cascais, the event offered complimentary tickets to the CAISL community. Students had the opportunity to meet Cristina Lamb after the talk, with several having their books personally signed.

Students participated in this year’s Battle of the Books by forming teams of four, reading eight selected novels, and practicing trivia questions throughout the school year. After months of preparation and a mock battle in the Atrium, students will celebrate their hard work with a final gathering this Thursday at lunch.

Our Middle School production of Aladdin, presented on May 15 and 16, was a tremendous success, with full houses on both evenings. The performances featured outstanding student talent, stunning costumes and scenery, impressive visual effects, and live musicians who added magic to the show. Thank you to our families, volunteers, stage managers, and High School students whose support behind the scenes helped make this production unforgettable.
