Grade 5 Students Take a Stand for a Better World

Our Grade 5 students recently explored the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), researching global issues such as health and well-being, gender equality, responsible consumption, and climate action. They applied their learning by writing evidence-based argument essays and presenting their ideas through “Take a Stand Talks,” demonstrating strong research, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking skills.

Grade 8 Human Impact Symposium

CAISL Grade 8 students presented their Human Impact Projects at a symposium exploring the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through interdisciplinary research, they shared their findings, solutions, and mathematical analysis, while engaging the community and contributing their voices to global sustainability efforts.

Outdoor Learning in Action: Ecolution Club Joins European Research Project

As part of the Plastic Pirates – Go Europe initiative, CAISL's Ecolution Club participated in an outdoor learning experience at Ribeira de Colares, where students conducted environmental field research and analyzed water quality. By contributing their findings to a Europe-wide database, they gained valuable hands-on scientific experience while supporting efforts to map pollution across the continent.

Celebrating Our Graduates: Class of 2026

Last Saturday, we celebrated the graduation of 60 students from the Class of 2026. The emotional ceremony brought together students, families, and staff to mark this important milestone. A highlight of the event was the personal tributes shared by teachers chosen by each graduate, making the occasion especially meaningful. While we are excited to see what lies ahead for our graduates, they are already greatly missed by our school community.

CAISL Community Enjoys Inspiring Evening with Author Cristina Lamb

Last Friday, CAISL staff and students enjoyed an inspiring evening with acclaimed author and war correspondent Cristina Lamb, co-author of I Am Malala. Hosted by Indie, Cascais, the event offered complimentary tickets to the CAISL community. Students had the opportunity to meet Cristina Lamb after the talk, with several having their books personally signed.

Battle of the Books Celebration

Students participated in this year’s Battle of the Books by forming teams of four, reading eight selected novels, and practicing trivia questions throughout the school year. After months of preparation and a mock battle in the Atrium, students will celebrate their hard work with a final gathering this Thursday at lunch.

A Magical Success: Middle School Presents Aladdin

Our Middle School production of Aladdin, presented on May 15 and 16, was a tremendous success, with full houses on both evenings. The performances featured outstanding student talent, stunning costumes and scenery, impressive visual effects, and live musicians who added magic to the show. Thank you to our families, volunteers, stage managers, and High School students whose support behind the scenes helped make this production unforgettable.

Celebrating Musical Excellence at CAISL

On May 20th, CAISL celebrated an evening dedicated to music and student achievement, honoring new Tri-M Music Honor Society inductees, showcasing performances submitted to the AMIS Online Festival, and marking a special farewell performance by the 10th grade orchestra students. Led entirely by students, the event concluded with a cupcake reception celebrating their accomplishments and musical journey.

Week Without Walls: Discovering Estremoz Together

The 10th graders spent three days in Estremoz during the Week Without Walls program, strengthening friendships while exploring culture, history, and entrepreneurship through visits to museums, monuments, and University of Évora.

Week Without Walls: 8th Grade Adventure in Gredos

8th grade students spent five days in Sierra de Gredos taking part in outdoor activities focused on adventure, teamwork, and nature exploration. The program included river activities, biking, hiking, and target shooting, while also giving students valuable opportunities to bond and create lasting memories together.

Week Without Walls: 7th Grade Journey Through Southern Spain

7th grade students spent five days traveling across several cities in southern Spain as part of their Week Without Walls program. The trip combined visits to cultural monuments and landmarks with outdoor activities, offering students a dynamic mix of learning, exploration, and class bonding beyond the classroom.

Week Without Walls: 6th Grade Adventure in Évora

6th grade students spent three days in Évora on a Week Without Walls trip, exploring local museums and historic monuments while also experiencing life on a farm with animals. The visit combined cultural learning, hands-on activities, and opportunities for students to bond and enjoy time together outside the classroom.

Week Without Walls: 9th Grade Experience in Central Portugal

9th grade students took part in a four-day Week Without Walls in central coastal Portugal, combining outdoor learning, cultural visits, and team-building activities. Highlights included a beach clean-up at Praia de Mira, kayaking, museum visits, and exploring the São Jacinto dunes. The experience offered meaningful hands-on learning while strengthening bonds within the grade.

CAISL at AMIS 2026 MS Honor Orchestra

We are proud to share that CAISL 8th grade students Emma G. and Vienn B. took part in the AMIS 2026 Middle School Honor Orchestra in The Hague!

After a highly competitive audition process, they joined outstanding young musicians from around the world for an unforgettable musical and cultural experience, culminating in a beautiful concert at the historic Marekerk in Leiden.

A wonderful achievement and a memorable experience — well done!

EC4 Adventures at the Museu da Carris

EC4 had a wonderful field trip to the Museu da Carris filled with learning, creativity, and fun! The children explored the history of Lisbon’s transportation, rode in the first electric tram, discovered the first double-decker bus, and created amazing finger puppets. We ended the day with a lovely picnic and outdoor play in Restelo Park. A truly memorable experience for everyone!

International Fest 2026: Celebrating Multiculturalism and Community

The CAISL International Fest 2026, organized by the Parent Support Group (PSG), brought the community together for a vibrant celebration of multiculturalism featuring country booths, performances, traditional food, children’s activities, and raffle prizes. The event was a great success thanks to the incredible support and involvement of CAISL families and volunteers.

CAISL rhymes with the outdoors!

CAISL students joined Cascais Municipality for an after-school beach clean-up at Praia das Avencas on May 12. Led by an Ecolution member and Junior student, volunteers collected 5.1 kg of plastic particles in 2.5 hours, ending the day with a strong sense of community, gratitude, and environmental responsibility. 🌊♻️

On May 4, secondary students participated in Career Day through assemblies and small group sessions with parents from our community. Students gained valuable insights into different career paths, academic choices, and professional experiences.

Celebrating the Month of the Military Child

Summary: On April 30, our school celebrated the Month of the Military Child with an assembly, classroom reading sessions led by military parents, and a special ice cream treat for students. The activities highlighted and celebrated our military-connected community.

We were delighted to welcome Dr. Anastasia Dedyukhina for engaging sessions with parents and students on digital wellbeing, screen time, and the impact of AI. Her thought-provoking discussions encouraged our community to reflect on building healthier relationships with technology. 📱💡
