CAISL's Student Support Services encompass a range of programs and professional staff who work in areas, academic, personal, emotional-social to help students succeed.
Student Support Services comprises the Counseling, Learning Support, and Foundations of English Language Programs. Students who need academic support beyond what the classroom teacher can provide are eligible for Learning Support and Foundations of English (FoE)/ English as Additional Language (EAL) if they are shown to be eligible through a variety of internal and external assessments, Both the Learning Support and the FoE/ EAL programs work to develop the student’s skills and strategies so that they can access the curriculum and be independently successful in the classroom. The Counseling Department supports all students with the goal to help them develop strategies that will guide them through their emotional and social challenges.
The Student Support Services include:
PERSONAL COUNSELING
This program focuses on guiding students through the emotional and social challenges of growing up and working with others.
LEARNING SUPPORT PROGRAM (LSP)
For students who are admitted with mild-moderate cognitive or attention disorders which require support beyond which the classroom teacher can provide.
CAREER COUNSELING
Implemented by the College Counselors, this program focuses primarily on 9th and 10th grades as students begin to consider their futures and to put plans in place.
LANGUAGE SUPPORT (EAL)
Language support is available in the form of English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes. It is based on student’s individual needs and it is provided in small groups.
