Virtual High School Learning

CAISL provides High School students with the opportunity to take online courses through Virtual High School Learning, a nonprofit organization providing supplemental online classes and blended learning opportunities.

Students in Grades 9–12 may enroll in VHS courses. Grades and credits earned are transferred and recorded on the student’s CAISL transcript. VHS Learning offers 23 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. AP courses are college-level and conclude with an external exam in May; strong results may qualify students for college credit or advanced standing at universities in the United States and can also support admission in other national systems. VHS Learning complies with data privacy regulations in both the United States and Europe.

Please note: VHS courses are intended to complement, not replace, the CAISL curriculum.

When CAISL Covers the Cost

CAISL will pay for a VHS course when:

  • The student enrolls in an AP course approved by the High School Coordinator and Secondary Principal as part of the student’s academic plan
  • The student has demonstrated strong organizational skills, academic ability and interest in the subject and the course is significantly different than those currently offered at CAISL. VHS Learning is meant to expand, not replace, the courses CAISL offers.

When Families Cover the Cost

Families will pay for a VHS course when:

  • The student does not pass the course.
  • Students withdraws from the course after the first week from the start date.  If a student withdraws during the first week, the family will be responsible for 25% of the course fee.
  • The student is recovering a credit from a CAISL course which he/she did not pass.

Participation in any VHS Learning course offered through CAISL will require the approval of the Secondary Principal.

More About High School

Class Sizes

CAISL’s High School includes Grades 9-12 (ages 14-18), with a maximum of 60 students per grade. Individual classes are kept small, with no more than 20 students, ensuring meaningful discussion, personalized attention, and strong teacher-student relationships.

Each student is part of an advisory group led by a faculty advisor who serves as a consistent point of contact for academic guidance and personal support. Students also work closely with the Post-Secondary Counselor as they plan for university and life beyond CAISL.

Beyond the Classroom

High School students participate in a wide variety of activities including Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Thespian Troupe, as well as opportunities in community service, athletics, and the arts.

The Thespian Troupe Presents Almost, Maine

Last week, our High School Thespian Troupe presented a student-led production of Almost, Maine. Performed behind the theatre curtains for a limited audience, the intimate setting created a powerful and memorable experience that showcased the students’ talent, creativity, and dedication.

Last week, our High School Thespian Troupe brought Almost, Maine to life in a moving and beautifully crafted production. Following a full week of dedicated rehearsals, the students delivered a performance filled with humor, tenderness, and emotional depth.

This project was entirely staged and student-led, with high schoolers taking ownership of the direction, acting, and technical elements. Their collaboration and artistic vision were evident throughout the show.

To create a more intimate atmosphere, the performance took place behind the curtains on our theatre stage, with a limited audience in attendance. The setting allowed for a close connection between performers and viewers, making the experience all the more powerful and memorable. 🎭✨

Alumni Day 2025: A Celebration of Our Community

Alumni Day 2025 brought 40 alumni back to campus on December 19 for a vibrant day of reconnection, inspiration, and school spirit. From the alumni panel to the Wolf Cup, the event celebrated the strong bonds that unite generations of the CAISL community.

On December 19, CAISL was delighted to welcome 40 alumni back to campus for Alumni Day 2025. The day was filled with energy and connection, as alumni rejoined the community—catching up with former teachers and classmates, sharing their experiences during the morning panel, and competing (or cheering!) in the always-popular Basketball Wolf Cup.

Juniors and Seniors enjoyed an engaging panel with alumni from the Classes of 1967 through 2025, representing a wide range of fields from medicine and engineering to business, technology, the arts, and more. Their stories sparked great conversations and offered students an inspiring look at the many paths beyond CAISL.

Alumni Day remains a joyful reminder of the strong bonds that connect generations of Wolves.

Thank you to all who joined us—we loved having you back on campus, and you are always welcome at CAISL!

CAISL Debate Society Explores Careers in International Relations and Humanitarian Action

On December 17th, the CAISL Debate Society welcomed an Armed Forces Special Advisor from the International Committee of the Red Cross for an engaging Q&A session, offering students valuable insights into careers in international relations and humanitarian intervention.

On December 17th, CAISL’s Debate Society welcomed to Mr. Thom G., Armed Forces Special Advisor and current Regional Delegate for the United States and Canada at the International Committee of the Red Cross.

During an interactive Q&A session, Mr. Thom shared insights into his career in international relations and humanitarian intervention. The session offered valuable real-world perspectives and inspired students interested in making a meaningful impact on the international stage.

CAISL IB Students Fundraise for Brave Future’s Mission

CAISL IB students hosted a CAS fundraising event in support of Brave Future, raising nearly 1,500 euros to help children in crisis areas access education. Visitors met organization representatives, including the first child ever supported by Brave Future, and enjoyed a variety of student-created items. The event highlighted CAISL’s strong sense of community and commitment to meaningful global impact.

CAISL proudly embraced another meaningful cause by supporting Brave Future, a non-governmental organization that helps children in crisis and conflict areas continue their education. This initiative was led by our IB students as part of their CAS project.

The event brought together many secondary students, faculty and staff members, and parents. We were honored to welcome representatives from the organization, including the first child ever supported by Brave Future—who kindly answered questions from visitors throughout the event.

Thanks to the generous donations from our community, students—showing remarkable teamwork—created a warm and welcoming space where visitors could purchase tokens to exchange for handmade jewelry, shoes, home-baked goods, hand-painted postcards, ornaments made by the PSG Knitting Club and the Ecolution Group, and even popcorn.

By the end of the event, students were proud and delighted to have raised nearly 1,500 euros to support Brave Future’s mission.

This event was a wonderful example of compassion, collaboration, and community spirit at CAISL—showing how our students can make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom.
