Replanting Pinhal de Leiria

Replanting Pinhal de Leiria

Continuing our now long-lasting partnership with AMI Ecoética, the environmental sustainability branch of AMI, 8 CAISL staff members answer the call to replant Pinhal de Leiria on the last 18th of March. For those that don´t know the place, Pinhal de Leiria is a 11.080ha man-made wild pine tree forest (Pinus pinaster) located in the center of Portugal, dating back from the XIII century, and was planted initially with the goals of stopping sand dunes from taking agricultural land and protecting that same agricultural land, coming later to play an essential role in providing quality wood for boat construction and becoming a green area of national importance because of its leisure role as well as the big impact on the environmental sustainability of Portugal´s central shoreline region. During a full morning of work under the technical guidance of AMI Ecoética and side-by-side with other teams from different regions of Portugal, CAISL planted 320 Pinus pinaster that will grow and help to offset some of the man-made pollution of our times.
