Our Ecolution Club students participated in the last trip of the year within the program "Plastic Pirates". Mr. José Rocha summed up this fun learning adventure: Sun, outdoors, field work, and a lot of fun! This was the morning of June 12, Wednesday, for all our Ecolution members participating in the last Plastic Pirates GoEurope action of the year, surveying Ribeira de Colares in Praia das Maçãs, Sintra. Partnering with the Portuguese Centro Ciência Viva, CAISL once more surveyed all the area around the river mouth of Ribeira de Colares, collecting macro and microplastic data, calculating river flow speed, volume, among other technical details. All data will be sent to the EU to better understand the origin of European ocean pollution. Students partnered in teams led by a middle schooler or a high schooler, and smiles were all we could see on their faces for two and a half hours of work and fun.
