In April, CAISL is celebrating the month of the Military Child with different activities. With many students having their parents serving in the military, this was a great way to recognize them and listening to their experiences, as they travel around the world with their families. On April 17th, Retired Chief Warrant Officer Five Alan Mack came to CAISL to present his book, “Razor 03 A Night Stalker’s Wars”, and talk to parents and guests about his fulfilled military career. Mr. Mack served 35 years in the military and his awards include the Legion of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, three Bronze Stars, ten Air Medals (one with Valor), and a Combat Action Badge. Mr. Mack also shared more about his achievements with our Middle Schoolers, who interviewed him during small block. He also visited Grade 1, sharing experiences with students and also reading a story, and children were delighted to share this moment. On April 19th, students were asked to wear purple, as a symbol of this celebration, and Middle and High School students had a chance to participate in an ice cream social during lunch, where they could interact with their classmates who have parents in the military. It was great to learn more about these students, and we thank them for their participation.
