CAISL’s annual Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) brought together all Middle School students, along with guests from local schools, for a day of diplomacy, debate, and collaboration. Designed to mirror the real-world United Nations, JMUN gave students the chance to step into the shoes of international delegates and tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues.
The conference focused on vital global topics, such as access to clean water and its conservation, and the challenges faced by people displaced by conflict. Representing different countries, students worked to present their nations’ viewpoints, negotiate with allies, and craft thoughtful resolutions aimed at solving these complex problems.
While many participants were understandably nervous about speaking in front of their peers, the debates flowed smoothly, with students expressing their ideas clearly and respectfully. The courage and preparation shown by each delegate was impressive, and they are to be commended for their effort and commitment to the event.
Adding to the realism of the simulation, experienced High School students took on the role of committee chairs, guiding discussions with poise and professionalism. Meanwhile, Grade 5 students joined the event as reporters, observing the proceedings and documenting key moments—a first step in developing their own voice in future conferences.
JMUN continues to be a highlight of the Middle School experience at CAISL, building not only public speaking and critical thinking skills but also empathy and global awareness. Congratulations to all who participated for making this year’s event a meaningful success.
