GreenTech HS Elective: Getting Hands-On with Bicycle Mechanics ⚙️🚲

Last week, CAISL’s HS GreenTech Elective students had the opportunity to take part in two practical workshops focused on bicycle maintenance and repair. The session was led by a local citizen from Linhó and bicycle mechanic from Shimano Portugal, Mr. Reis, who shared his professional expertise and guided students through the fundamentals of bike mechanics.

Throughout the class, students learned how to identify and fix common mechanical issues, such as adjusting brakes, repairing chains, aligning wheels, and checking gears and tires. Working directly with bicycles, they gained valuable hands-on experience and a better understanding of how this form of transport functions.

The workshop combined theory with practice, encouraging students to explore problem-solving, precision, and teamwork as they worked on real mechanical challenges.
