Grade 5 Mold Terrariums

Fifth graders completed an activity, Mold Terrarium, where students planned and conducted an investigation to discover the factors affecting decomposition. The students filled a plate with different types of food and covered it with a Ziplock bag, and changed environmental conditions to study how different variables affect mold growth. They then observed mold growth over a period of two weeks. They investigated what were mold accelerators and what were mold preventors.
