Last November 3rd we hosted CAISL’s very first Fall Festival. This event was inspired by the cherished tradition of Fall Festivals in the United States, and our Parent Support Group (PSG) worked diligently to organize an event that focused on fostering a sense of community. Given the rainy weather, the PSG ensured indoor fun for dozens of families who attended this amazing initiative. Here's a glimpse of what was in store for the evening:
Families could be around the remarkable Gratitude Tree, composed of heartfelt messages and decorations from our dedicated Elementary students. Throughout the evening, everyone, including adults, was also encouraged to add their own contributions.
During the event, families could attend an exciting Marimbas Performance, learn how to dance Folk Music, participate in cookies and cupcakes decoration, play different games, take seasonal photos with a professional photographer on a colorful and cozy Autumn scenario.
All participants at this gathering also had the opportunity to taste many seasonal traditional flavors, such as Caramel Apples, Carrot soup and Apple Cider. But the tasty highlight of the night were the many different homemade chilis: the PSG held a Chili Contest, and our seasoned chili aficionados competed for the title of 'Best Chili of 2023.' After the judges' deliberations, the tasting session opened to all attendees, allowing everyone to savor these delectable creations. The winners, Ms. Marcy H. (1st place) and Ms. Kyla B. (2nd place), received a warm round of applause and oversized wooden spoon awards.
In the Thanksgiving spirit, the Fall Festival also featured activities to benefit Gota-a-Gota, an institution that supports families in need in the Sintra region: National Honor Society Students auctioned homemade pies and The Girl Scouts collected baby items, including diapers. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
We extend our profound thanks to all those, especially to our PSG, who contributed to the success of this inaugural Fall Festival, making it a truly memorable event for the CAISL community. We look forward to future opportunities to come together and celebrate our shared spirit of community.
