Celebrating Our Young Scientists

MOSTRA NACIONAL DE CIÊNCIA

From May 23rd to May 25th the Mostra Nacional de Ciência 2024 is simply the biggest Science exhibition in Portugal, primarily directed to national and international students from 15 years old to first year of university. And CAISL was there, represented by one of our Science teachers and one of our high school students, Angel Z., who´s scientific research was selected for the final of the Young Scientists Award, Saturday, May 25th, in Porto. Students and teachers were 3 days immersed in pure science communication, research and interaction, where fierce, but friendly competition selected between the highest quality projects for a European presence. CAISL´s project won 5th place (out of 107 quality research projects!), the student was awarded the first monetary prize, the teacher won a technical course sponsored by Porto Editora and, last but not least, CAISL´s project was chosen to represent Portugal on Mobisciences international exhibition, in Belgium, next year. For now, the feeling is of happiness, excitement and continuous learning.

SOLAR CAR Now on its second year of existence, Sintra Edu Green Stem project is a friendly scientific and technological competition of solar cars engineered by middle schools, high schools, clubs, and technical schools from Sintra Municipality region. Happening on the charming Real Club de Massamá and promoted by Sintra Municipality educational branch, this is a welcoming and exciting event where more than 12 cars competed for speed and endurance over one full hour, winning the one that can cover more ground (and do more laps) over that time period. CAISL proudly partnered with Sintra Municipality on this event, taking our famous CAISL Star solar car to the race track, where 2 pilots (7th and 8th grade) supported by our IT team, some staff members and student´s families raced to an honorable 3rd place on its category (36v, 7Amp). More to come next year!
