31st International Model United Nations at CAISL

31st International Model United Nations at CAISL

CAISL proudly hosted the opening day of the 31st IMUN, with the following two days held at the Lisbon Congress Center. This student-led event brought together delegates from international schools across Portugal, as well as from the United States, Romania, Spain, Italy, and Germany.

Students participated in committees such as the Human Rights Committee, the Crisis committee, the Security Council and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), working under student chairs to debate global challenges, negotiate resolutions, and practice real-world diplomacy.

The conference featured a keynote speech by Ms. Santos, who highlighted three pillars essential for collective action: identity, understanding, and safe spaces. She emphasized the importance of listening to those directly affected by global issues and reminded delegates that “peace is not a gift, but a practice.”

Guided by this year's theme, “Forging Peace Through Unity: Strength in Collective Action” — students demonstrated collaboration, critical thinking, and commitment to building a more peaceful world. Delegates left inspired, connected, and ready to continue their role as global citizens.
