After almost 8 years, I have no doubt that CAISL was the wisest choice. Our daughter loves the school and everyone who is part of it. I want to express gratitude for the support received over these years. It is a great pleasure to be part of this community. Without a doubt, our daughter will carry the fondest memories of this school. Friends, teachers, director, and the entire team that makes up this community will always hold a special place in our hearts!

end of Grade 5.

CAISL has been a remarkable community for my son during his past four years of high school. We experienced this strength of caring and commitment to education even more so this past pandemic year, when the director, teachers and staff worked absolute magic to make the year appear seamless for the students, despite confinement, changing restrictions and working from home, and these smooth transitions belied an incredible amount of adaptation, hard work & tight collaboration in order to keep Seniors supported throughout the intensive final year of IB, exams, and the disrupted college application process. CAISL has been an outstanding experience for our family, one that I wish other families would avail.

As an American, I thought I wanted to give my 2 children a change from an American school experience during our brief expat post in Portugal. However, because of CAISL’s quality of education, the warm, welcoming school culture and the deeply international student body, now we don’t want to leave. CAISL may look like a typical American public school on the outside but the educational experience they offer is anything but typical. The school is inclusive, constructive and dedicated to the whole child and student-led learning. Their college placement is among the best of the country’s international schools and it is the only school in Portugal with support from the American State Department, offering both a US High School diploma as well as International Baccalaureate diploma.

I was fortunate enough to have attended CAISL from EC3-Grade 12. I can honestly say, without hesitation, that CAISL played a huge role in making me the independent life-long learner I am today. In September, I started my university studies in International Business in the Netherlands. The skills I acquired at CAISL enabled me to smoothly adapt to a new environment. The ability to organize my time and workload efficiently, collaborate effectively with peers from all over the world in several languages, and present projects to large audiences with confidence are huge assets. Thank you, CAISL, for preparing me so well for the future.

CAISL is an amazing school in which students are valued individually and invited to grow academically and also as socially responsible human beings. The atmosphere in campus is always great and very well organized creating a safe environment for students and families. I was amazed by the magnificent work developed during the pandemic.
I truly recommend CAISL!

My family and I are Brazillian and moved from USA to Portugal in 2018. For us, it was a blessing to find a school like CAISL! The school is an extension of US schools' method, all the staff is very professional and well prepared, and also the school’s curriculum is at an excellent level. The intercultural exchange is very rich – there are children from all over the world, which makes it a priceless experience and I can notice the dignity, respect and integrity that the school transmits to its students.

After having studied in 4 countries, our daughter has found in CAISL both academic excellence and in human kindness, which has made her feel happy at school. The warmth of all the staff facilitated her adaptation to CAISL and Portugal. And to us as parents it has given us the peace of mind of knowing that she is in the best hands.

I have now been studying in CAISL for more than a semester (...) I had very high expectations for the school year, and they were surpassed by miles, in many ways! (...) My teachers are fun, and they create different and more interactive ways of learning. In class I don’t just learn what is written in the books or on the internet, I also learn lifelong skills.

Excellent school, lovely community, great teachers, beautiful focus on values and experiences. So many amazing models and kind people to be inspired by at CAISL. Couldn’t be more grateful for our 4th year there!

I’m an alumni and I recommend CAISL to anyone who is looking for an American/International school

Alumnus from 2020 Class

Our kids have been at Caisl for 7 years and it has become so much more than a school to us; it’s a community that gives us sense of belonging and purpose. Aside from the academic excellence, the school is made by individuals and true values. A kind and friendly staff and brilliant caring teachers helped us navigate throughout these difficult unexpected couple of years. The school facilities are cleaner and more organized than ever, school works like a swiss watch despite all disruptions caused by the pandemics. Thanks again and again!

As a family, we are all devastated most about leaving CAISL. You and your school have literally been life-changing for us.

Message from an Early Childhood Child

I attended CAISL from the 5th to 12th grade and completed the IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma program. Besides the exemplary education that the school provides, it prepares you for life, placing you in a path towards success. Although sometimes challenging, the curriculum is rigorous, and versatile. More than knowledge, CAISL gives you the discipline, perseverance and values you need to navigate in life. The cultural exposure that you get from the people you meet from all over the world make you feel at home no matter what country you are in. If I had to summarize in a few words, CAISL helps you become a more mature individual and teaches you how to learn.

CAISL Alumnus

I often think about how thankful I am for the help CAISL has given me during the College applications process. (...) Without your input, my goal of coming to the US to study in a top school would have not been realized, so I really appreciate all the support and recommendations you gave me.

Sharing my point of view as Mom of 5: (…). I would like to take a minute, to thank all the CAISL team, children are definitely engaged with this new method and that means a lot to us. Congratulations.

(…)Our son is extremely happy, working harder than ever and experiencing the joy of learning and fulfilling tasks independently. He feels so proud to seat at his own computer and work, just as he see us doing. The teachers (all of them) have been absolutely fantastic. (...)

My daughter insisted on getting up on time yesterday morning so she could start the virtual schooling "on schedule". (...).  The utter delight and confidence with which she sat down and worked through the different subjects was remarkable, impressive, even touching. (...).  (...)  Sure, it was just Day 1, and it's novel, but really impressive to see.

Amazing school! The best teachers! Healthy and nurturing environment for a child’s personal development. As a mother of 2 boys (14 and10), I’m proud to say that I can see in them: personal growth, academic achievement and development of social skills that the school helps to provide and create the right conditions for that to happen. CAISL has been the perfect partner to enlarge social, human and family values and to help my boys to become good citizens, kind human beings and responsible students.

Our family is very happy with the school. It’s not only a school, it’s a strong community. I share the school’s approach to education, where arts and sports are as strong as academics. The campus is one of the best (if not the best) in Lisbon. It’s very safe and organized on every level. There was never a question I had, that wasn’t taken seriously and answered. (...) CAISL is there to help children to build their skills and prepare for the future educated, kind, respectful young people.

Mother of an 8th grader

Our daughter attended CAISL from Grade 4 to 7 and it was a great experience. She still misses CAISL and stays in contact with some of her classmates. At CAISL the student is the center. They feel welcomed and accepted. The academic level is high, and, in our daughter’s case, her teachers made a very good job helping her to move out of her comfort zone. It really made a difference. The culture at CAISL is “special”: multicultural, respectful and caring. The Headmaster, heads of departments, teachers and staff should be very proud of their accomplishment.

Art work to say thank you

(…) My 2nd grade daughter worked more independently, connecting with her teachers at the scheduled times, asking questions as needed, and relying less on me for her assignments. It worked well. (…) As to the younger one, she obviously does not know how to connect to Moodle or Teams, but we have taught her to mute and unmute, and that is going well. (…) Thank you for your continued support and leading us through this unexpected situation for which no one, anywhere, was prepared for. The teachers have been great and as things settle they can only get better.

Mother of two Elementary Children (during School@Home program)

(...)The effect of this (class@home) is that our daughter is engaged all day and her spirits are up, she is not feeling burdened by the fact that we have been on lock down for over one week now. The fact that /she/ had the program to comply with, made her more focused on her leaning progress, which of course is wonderful(...).

Father of an Elementary Child (during School@Home program)

First of all, I cannot express how pleased I am with the outstanding service the school is providing us during this challenging time. (...) My daughter was thrilled to see her teacher in one of the videos (...). Today as I turned on the laptop she was cheering “Ms. Tânia! Ms. Tânia” in expectation of watching a video and there was one! She watched over and over again(...) congratulations on a job well done!

We are now, as we always were, absolutely convinced that the decision to enroll them in CAISL community was the best decision we could have made. Their success is the conclusion of all their effort and commitment, but it would not have been possible without the magnificent contribution of CAISL. Thank you for that.

Portuguese parents, Children graduated from CAISL

CAISL has done a great job with my children academically. After returning to the States, they fit right in a new school system with honors, due to the good preparation they had from CAISL, and they miss the school dearly (including the delicious treats from the cafeteria)!

Erma Anderson comes to CAISL each year, sponsored by the Office of Overseas Schools of the Department of State of the USA, to work with our Math and Science teachers on “best practice” for Common Core Math and Next Generation Science Standards. The quote it's a recent tweet.

CAISL’s library is an impressive learning center and one we did not find in the new school after moving away. CAISL’s library staff offer valuable advice and, in addition to the large book collection, our children benefitted from the organization, the resources, as well as coordination in between classes and teachers.

The math curriculum and program is another thing I most admire at CAISL - I am so thankful for the teachers’ effort, and the skills and concepts worked on. We notice a huge difference in the new school in the demand and actual program. We stayed at CAISL for four years; we wished they had been longer.

In their previous school in the UK, my boys were achieving but not flourishing. Our children are now in their third year at CAISL. Academically we are very pleased but, more importantly, they are happy, motivated and confident!
