One of the highlights of the school year at CAISL is certainly the Winter Concert, that took place on December 19th. With Grades 5 and up participating, seats were early filled with families eager to watch both orchestra and choir performances.
Orchestra students opened the concert, playing some holiday classics with a twist with the help of CAISL adult percussion group on the boomwhackers. CAISL's librarian, Ms. Jenkins, also joined the orchestra for a musical interpretation of the story The First Snow. The performance ended with a medley of traditional Venezuelan holiday tunes.
While Choir got ready, IB Music student Holly filled the stage with her beautiful piano interpretation of Christmas Time is Here.
5th Graders took the stage next, and their joyful and witty singing and dancing made every member of the audience smile, particularly during their witty choreography of the 12 Days of Christmas.
Middle and High School also made an impression, with voices that sounded beautiful as soloists or choir. Their biggest challenge this year was Randall Thompson's Alleluia, when some CAISL teachers and staff joined the choir. After all the hard work practicing this classical piece, the students and teachers on stage gave an outstanding performance that earned them a huge round of applause from the audience.
The performance ended with a combined choir sing-along.
Congratulations to all performers and to CAISL's Choir and Orchestra teachers for creating such a memorable Concert.
