French Soirée - A Night to Remember
As has grown to be a greatly entertaining CAISL tradition, on February 11th, the annual Soirée Française took place this year in the midst of a heavy feeling of sympathy for those unfortunate enough to have been in Haiti at the time of the massive earthquake which ravaged the economically and socially fragile French-speaking nation. With one euro out of each ticket going straight towards effective aid to Haiti, dozens of people turned up for what turned out to be a very memorable evening.
The evening’s events ranged from several poems recited by CAISL students of varying levels of fluency in French, to guest speakers from the French Embassy in Portugal, to the stunning performance of a series of incredible songs. It is safe to say that this Soirée was one of particular success – further enhanced by the exquisite gastronomy of the cultural feast, enjoyed by all fortunate enough to be present.
