Cyclist Brings 'Long Ride Home' and 'Cycle Africa' to CAISL Students
On Tuesday, October 13, Secondary students arrived at school to find a tent pitched in the Atrium, a heavily-laden mountain bike and a fascinating guest speaker. Peter Gostelow visited CAISL to share his experiences from “The Long Ride Home,” a three year, 50,000 km bicycle trip from Japan to the U.K. that took him through 30 countries. He is currently over 5,000 km into his latest adventure which will take him from the U.K. to South Africa. His trip is being done in support of Against Malaria, a charity that distributes mosquito netting to help prevent malaria in African communities. Mr. Gostelow's vivid images, captivating stories and life lessons were an excellent prelude to our Character Counts week.
